When Good Isn’t What We Thought — Companion Reflection Sheet
A quiet guide for personal reflection or small-group conversation — meant to deepen, not explain.
This reflection sheet is designed to sit beside the piece — not to replace or explain it.
Read the article first.
Then return to these questions slowly.
Do not answer them from theory.
Answer them from your own life.
Section 1 — Where My Definition of “Good” Lives
- When I imagine “God being good to me,” what concrete outcomes come to mind?
- (Safety? Relief? Vindication? Escape? Stability?)
2. Which parts of my life feel like they should have been reversed by now if God were “being good”?
3. In those places, have I ever confused relief with faithfulness?
Section 2 — Standing Where Rescue Didn’t Arrive
4. Where in my life am I still faithful — but also still waiting?
5. What pressures tempt me to:
• withdraw
• self-protect
• adjust truth to make the situation easier?
6. If I remain faithful here — without relief — what does that reveal about what my faith is actually made from?
Section 3 — Truth vs Safety
7. Where am I tempted to preserve:
• control
• reputation
• comfort
instead of remaining aligned with what I know God requires?
8. If the safer path is not always the faithful one — what does that change about how I interpret obedience in my current season?
Section 4 — Naming What This Reveals About God
9. What assumption about God did this piece expose in me?
(Example: “If I’m obedient, He owes me rescue.”)
10. What would it mean to trust God when His timing, His outcomes, or His definition of good do not match mine?
Closing Prayer Posture (no script — just orientation)
God, show me where I have asked You to protect me instead of align me.
Give me the courage to remain where faithfulness belongs —
even when it does not feel like rescue.
This companion is meant to stay honest, quiet, and serious — not as an application checklist, but as a place to tell the truth before God.
